Some projects go beyond a desk model or a gift set. A two metre tall figure built from 12,000 parts, now standing in a sports hall in Dubai. A detailed Buddha bust assembled from 1,139 individually sourced parts. These are the kinds of commissions that stop people in their tracks, and they’re built using exactly the same process as everything else we do: a brief, a design, your approval, and then a build that delivers something genuinely extraordinary.
If you’ve got an idea for a large scale brick sculpture or display model, this page covers what’s involved and how to get one made.
What we build at large scale
Large scale brick builds fall into a few broad categories, though the brief can start almost anywhere. Figural sculptures are the most dramatic option, life-size or larger representations of people, athletes, mascots, or characters built from the ground up using custom internal structures to support the weight and scale. Display models are a step down in scale but still built to command attention, architectural replicas, branded centrepieces, and statement pieces for reception areas, showrooms, and event spaces. Busts and portrait pieces sit somewhere between the two, detailed representations of a face or figure at a scale that makes them genuinely impressive as standalone display objects.
The common thread across all of them is that they’re designed to be seen. These aren’t gifts that sit on a desk. They’re objects that anchor a space, represent a brand, or mark an occasion in a way that nothing else in a room can match.
Who commissions large scale brick builds
The buyers who come to us for large scale work tend to fall into a few clear groups. Sports venues and clubs looking for a striking display piece that represents their identity or a particular athlete. Businesses and brands who want a large scale version of a mascot, a product, or a logo as a centrepiece for a showroom, a trade stand, or a reception area. Event agencies and production companies who need something visually extraordinary as a prop or installation. And individuals who want a large scale portrait or memorial piece that wouldn’t be possible any other way.
What all of them have in common is that they’ve looked at the options and decided that nothing available off the shelf comes close to what a bespoke brick sculpture can achieve. They’re right.
The padel player in Dubai
One of our most ambitious builds to date was a life-size padel ball player standing two metres tall and built from 12,000 parts. The commission came from a sports venue in Dubai who wanted a sculpture that captured the energy of the sport and made an immediate visual impact in the hall where it would be displayed.
We designed the figure from scratch, engineering the internal structure to support the scale and working through multiple render stages until the pose, the proportions, and the details were exactly right. The client followed the building instructions we created and the finished sculpture now stands permanently in the venue as a centrepiece that represents everything the space is about. It’s the kind of commission that reminds us what this medium is capable of at its most ambitious.

The Buddha bust
Not all large scale commissions are about size. The Buddha bust we produced at 1,139 parts is a detailed portrait piece where the quality of the build matters as much as the scale. Every part was intricately placed to achieve the facial structure, the expression, and the finish that the customer wanted. The result is a piece that holds up to close inspection as well as it does from across a room, which is the standard we hold every build to regardless of the subject or the scale.

How a large scale commission works
The process for a large scale build follows the same structure as any other commission, with some additional stages to account for the complexity of the design and the engineering involved in building at scale.
It starts with your brief. Tell us what you want built, what it’s for, where it will be displayed, and share any reference material you have. For figural sculptures, reference images from multiple angles are particularly helpful. For architectural or branded pieces, floor plans, product shots, or brand guidelines give us what we need to start the design accurately.
From there we work through the digital design stage, producing a full 3D model of the build before a single part is sourced. For large scale commissions, this stage typically involves more iterations than a smaller build because the structural engineering and the visual design have to work together. You’ll see renders of the finished piece from multiple angles and can request changes until you’re completely satisfied with what’s been designed.
Once the design is approved, we source all the parts and depending on the project and location we may be able to offer building the sculpture too. Depending on the scale and complexity, turnaround times for large scale builds are longer than standard commissions and are agreed individually at the quoting stage. Delivery and installation requirements are also discussed at this point, particularly for very large pieces where transit and positioning need planning in advance.
What makes a good brief for a large scale commission
The more specific you can be about the subject, the display environment, and the visual impact you’re looking for, the better. For figural pieces, knowing the approximate scale you want and where the sculpture will stand helps us engineer the internal structure correctly from the start. For branded or architectural pieces, high quality reference material makes the design process faster and the result more accurate.
If you’re not sure where to start, that’s fine. Get in touch with a rough idea and we’ll ask the right questions to shape the brief before we quote. Large scale commissions always begin with a conversation rather than a form.
Pricing
Large scale brick sculptures are quoted individually based on the subject, the scale, the part count, and the complexity of the design. There’s no standard price list for this kind of work because no two commissions are the same, but we’re transparent about costs from the first conversation and you’ll have a full quote before committing to anything.
Get in touch with your idea and we’ll come back to you with a realistic assessment of what’s involved and what it will cost.
Frequently asked questions
How big can you build?
Scale is determined by the brief and the structural requirements of the design rather than a fixed maximum. The padel player at two metres tall gives a sense of what’s achievable, there were challenges we needed to overcome (such as the non symmetrical pose and the weight distribution) but larger builds are possible depending on the subject and the display environment. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll advise on what’s realistic.
Can you build a replica of a real person?
Yes. Portrait sculptures and figural replicas of real people are something we’ve done before. Good reference material from multiple angles is important for getting the likeness right, and we work through multiple render stages to make sure you’re satisfied with the design before the build begins.
How are large scale sculptures shipped and installed?
Shipping and installation requirements are discussed at the quoting stage.
How long does a large scale commission take?
Turnaround depends on the scale and complexity of the build and is agreed individually at the quoting stage. Large scale commissions take longer than standard builds and we recommend getting in touch as early as possible if you have a firm deadline.
Can the sculpture include printed or branded parts?
Yes. If your commission calls for branded elements, custom printed parts, or specific graphics on individual bricks, we can incorporate our custom brick printing service into the build.
