Description
Inspired by the unique way Bruce Lowell did the shaping for his recent Slave 1 model, I built my own, attempting to do the shaping in yet another different way. Star Wars vehicles aren’t my forte, but consider this a proof of concept. As you can see in the photos of my physical model, I didn’t have an unprinted windscreen, but this gets the point across. My other goal for the model was that Boba would face the front both when landed and when flying. After hours of fiddling with Technic half-beams, I figured out the compact mechanism used here. He spins 180 degrees as he rocks 90 degrees. The wings and mechanism have enough weight to easily move when the craft is tilted. There are a lot of moving parts, so it is difficult to minimize the friction. Thirdly, I always enjoy minifigure compatible Star Wars vehicles that are drastically undersized. This is roughly the same size as the Slave 1 included in the 2019 Cloud City set. I hope you enjoy this model and that it inspires you do build something in a new way!
