Description
The microscale Hogwarts Castle released in 2018 (71043) is an amazing set containing references to many of our favorite characters, creatures, and events from the Harry Potter books and films – but not all of them! I have crafted a few of the crucial omissions in microscale so that they can be inserted to your school of Witchcraft and Wizardry! This includes Hagrid the Half-Giant, Fluffy the Three-Headed Dog, the Mountain Troll, Buckbeak the Hippogriff, a Thestral, and Grawp the Giant.
First we have Hagrid. In contrast to his minifigure form which is an especially large mold, here we represent him as one of the smallest possible minifigures, with short legs. Plus he has his trademark pink umbrella. However he still towers over the sets’ microfigures as he should.
Fluffy the Three-Headed Dog is an iconic creature from the first Harry Potter film, and crucially is the first guardian of the Philosopher’s (or Sorcerer’s) Stone. While the other obstacles such as the Devil’s Snare and the chess board are included, we obviously need to add our favorite giant canine to mix. This design can be rearranged into two poses – he can have all heads reared in the air, or lowered in intimidation.
The Mountain Troll attack in the bathroom is another one of my favorite scenes. The bathroom in the existing set seems to amalgamate the Prefect’s bathroom and Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, so we might as well add the troll in there too! Of course at this scale the classic minifigure is the perfect size to represent this fearsome creature, and he is carrying his club.
Buckbeak the Hippogriff and the Thestral are two more iconic creatures who are lovely to have flying around your castle.
Finally, as we created a minifigure of the Mountain Troll, we can do the same for Hagrid’s Giant half-brother Grawp! Grawp also hangs onto his favorite toy, the bell on bicycle handlebars.
The following files are included:
- Parts list
- Instructions for Fluffy the Three-Headed Dog
- Instructions for Buckbeak the Hippogriff
- Instructions for the Thestral
Unfortunately, instructions for the minifigures are not included as I don’t have the printed pieces readily available in my instruction software, but they should be straightforward to build based on the photos and included parts.
Note: For your shopping convenience, for the troll body you can also consider ordering a full Naboo Security Officer. I used his torso, and although I preferred to use the legs given in the parts list, his existing legs would also work quite fine.
